For decades we have bought light bulbs based on how much energy they consume (Watts) not on how much light they produce. Watts are now old hat and we have to think in lumens, which actually makes more sense. Lumens measure how much light you are getting from a bulb. A high number of lumens means the light is brighter; fewer lumens means the light is dimmer. Common sense right?
The only problem is that many of us still think in watts and haven’t quite got our heads around the new measurement.
