I really liked my rattan chair until our new cat decided it was the perfect place to sharpen her claws. Little did she care that I had bought her a 3 pillared, multi-surface, multi-height, purpose built scratching post at considerable expense. By the time she was trained, the damage was done.  The rattan is brown and the scratched areas were now light colored and dry. Shoe polish proved to be the best solution.

Match the shoe polish color to the area you need to repair. Dab the polish on the affected area with a cloth. Keep on dabbing until the damage is disguised.  When you have finished, gently wipe the surface with a clean cloth to remove any excess polish so it doesn’t rub off on your clothing.
