An important thing for me in the kitchen is to have the trash and recycling out of sight. Trash is ugly and I don’t want to see it, but I want it easily accessible. I have a pull out drawer that works well but sometimes my hands are messy and it is hard to avoid getting the handle sticky.
Blum Inc. has two systems that allow you to open a drawer with a simple push of the hand or knee. Tip-On is a mechanical system designed for handleless drawers so they will open with a light touch and close silently and effortlessly. Servo Drive is more expensive and based on an electric drive that, when activated, opens the drawer for you. I wish I had known about this when I was remodeling. The number of times that trash drawer is opened I think makes it worth it.
